The Technical Department is responsible for overseeing the center's technical systems and ensuring that all critical systems used to process emergency calls for service are functioning properly. The division is also responsible for ongoing maintenance, upgrades and configuration of these systems.
The Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Manager oversees the daily operation of the (CAD) system, which is used by the dispatchers when receiving and dispatching emergency calls. The job includes regular communication with the system supplier about concerns, enhancements and design issues.
Also in the Technical Department, the Addressing Coordinator works with local and regional governmental agencies to maintain the 9-1-1 street and address databases, and assists cities with naming streets and assigning address ranges in new developments.
A Technical Support Coordinator is on staff and performs level 1 support of operations to include: investigate radio, telephone and console malfunctions and other issues reported by the Emergency Communication Center’s Operations staff; ensure repair by internal staff and/or outside vendors on a timely basis; change configuration of console radio and telephone systems and displays as directed and provide hands-on training and support in the operation and use of PC hardware and software as assigned.
